About Camp Gan Israel
Welcome to Camp Gan Israel of OKC, part of the largest and fastest growing network of Jewish day camps in the world. Camp Gan Israel has a well-earned reputation as a trendsetter with innovative ideas and creative programs. Many children wait all year to come back to Camp Gan Israel! From Kiddie Camp to our Main Division, campers will enjoy a wide range of age appropriate, exciting activities and field trips in a warm and exciting atmosphere.
Information
Our camp is located at Chabad Community Center For Jewish Life and Learning, 3000 West Hefner Rd. Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am–3:00pm. Early care is available from 8:00–9:00am and after care is available from 3:00-5:00pm. Camp is offered for girls aged 5-12 and boys 5-11. Kiddie Camp is for children 2-4.
Safety
Safety is our number one concern. Our staff to camper ratio is structured to maintain the highest level of supervision. Staff members go through extensive training, including CPR and First Aid. Every staff member has a two-way radio for use in an emergency. Our facility is fully enclosed, and we have full time security.
Staff
Staff are handpicked from our international network of teachers’ colleges and seminaries. From Australia to Israel to London and New York, our highly trained and experienced staff bring a unique flavor and lively spirit to CGI. Counselors at Camp Gan Israel do more than just supervise activities and maintain order. Through songs, cheers, and original games and activities, the counselors form a bond with the campers that often lasts well beyond the summer experience.
Sports
Sports are an exciting part of our program. Our coach will facilitate games and activities throughout the week, and campers will develop confidence and teamwork. They will also learn the fundamentals of sports such as basketball, soccer, football, kickball, and dodgeball as they engage in individual and team competitions.
Arts & Crafts
Arts and Crafts are a real highlight at Gan Israel. Under the professional guidance of our Arts & Crafts Director, campers are taught to develop their creativity and imagination. Projects incorporate various themes in Jewish life as well as items of practical and artistic value.
Jewish Culture
Jewish culture is brought to life at Camp Gan Israel. Our campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride in their religious heritage and a love for Israel. Our group discussions and educational programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each child and to give each child an appreciation for their heritage in a fun and upbeat manner.
Trips (main division only)
Trips are a specialty at Camp Gan Israel. Campers will visit local attractions including the OKC Zoo, Frontier City, and more. They will enjoy fun activities like kosher scavenger hunts, picnics at the park, and peach and berry picking! Counselors receive specialized training to ensure they have the skills to supervise campers off-campus, and the director is present at every camp outing.
Fundays
Fundays are the heart and soul of Camp Gan Israel. Carnival Day, PJ Party Day, Rainbow Day, Bean Hunt, Prize Auction, Challah Baking, Shabbos Party, Exotic Petting Zoo, Drum Circle, and Water Day are parts of the unique and innovative programming that help create the special Gan Izzy Spirit that lingers well beyond the summer.
